Suggested Broad Street Filtered Permeability for NCN5
The black area shows where a slot could be cut into the traffic island between Bridge Street and Centenery Square to allow cyclists to follow NCN5 without guerilla tactics around the end of the island (and the associated hazards), or going on the official 2.3 km detour. It's called "filtered permeability", and is a tried and trusted technique. But all city council officers can do is come up with some of the most ludicrous reasons this campaigner has ever heard as to why this solution is unreasonable and completely impossible. It should, of course, have been built like this by design.
