Probably the best way to avoid Bridge Street is to use Gas Street and Berkley Street, but in addition to taking special care riding along the tram tracks, beware of this roundabout at the end of Gas Street and Berkley Street. As witnessed by the grey coating on the white paint, drivers drive across the offset roundel, failing to observe anyone who rides their bike out of Holliday Street (to the immediate right of the viewpoint) and almost all the way around the roundabout to Gas Street (to the right of Berkley Street, which is directly ahead). Note the curved keep-out area in Berkley Street that encourages drivers to drive across the roundabout rather than around it. Who designs garbage like this? The traffic in the Gas Street / Berkley Street gyratory system used to be in the opposite direction, which made this roundabout significantly less hazardous for cyclists. However, there is plenty of space here for a better junction, and why is it even necessary to make a gyratory system out of Gas Street and Berkley Street?
