BournvilleLane / CharfieldClose / WoodbrookeRoad Junction Proposal
This is a suggestion of how this double junction could be remodelled to calm motor traffic and aid active travel. Kerb realignments are shown in red. Although one of them slices off some greenery, it creates on the other side of the island a large area that can be added to the existing park. The blue lines are suggested cycling infrastructure. The protected cycleway along Bournville Lane has been proposed by the city council, though it is not known precisely what they have in mind. However, it is likely similar to that shown. A crossing is needed to take people across Bournville Lane. This could be a toucan crossing, or the more modern and hopefully better sparrow crossing. People on foot would cross to the pavement in Bournville Lane, whilst those on cycles would cross the pavement and join the Charfield Close carriageway. This might be a proper, albeit very short cycleway, but shared-use would probably suffice.
