Valley Parkway

An informal track through Valley Parkway between Northfield and Bournville
The grass and wild flowers have been left to grow, creating countryside adjacent to the flats on the other side of the trees (behind the viewpoint there is also a mown section with a games pitch). An informal track passes through the grass just in front of the viewpoint, but during wet weather a footpath on the other side of the trees provides a surfaced but equally quiet alternative. The paths and parks on the Bournville estate facilitate and encourage active travel, making it less necessary to drive. A small reduction in car journeys makes neighbourhoods much quieter and the remaining car journeys much easier. Many drivers will be aware of the effect of less motor traffic during school holidays, but don't realise that the percentage reduction in car usage is very small.
