Frederick Road in Selly Oak

Frederick Road in Selly Oak
Frederick Road in Selly Oak is an example of filtered permeability, though only pedestrians have been properly considered at the closed end. The closed end means motorists only use the road to access businesses and houses on Frederick Road. That makes it quiet for cycling, and despite the lack of proper consideration for cyclists, for cyclists it provides a quiet bypass for the busy and dangerous Selly Oak Triangle junction. It also allows people on the other side of Selly Oak Park (at the far end of this road) to cycle a quiet route to Sainsbury's. Without this closure, it would undoubtedly be used by motorists trying to avoid the Selly Oak Triangle junction.
