This is the West Midlands Vote Bike Event for the Metro Mayor Elections. The main event is a bring your own picnic in Cannon Hill Park. Just ride in on NCR5 and look for the red Space for Cycling flags next to the bandstand.
We want to celebrate cycling, listen to and ask questions of the Mayoral Candidates about supporting cycling, active travel, living streets and physical activity in general. A Push Bikes group with some of the candidates will meet at Victoria Square at 12.30 and ride down. Other groups and clubs are invited to make their own way to Cannon Hill by bike, scooter or on foot. Or with train or car assist from around the West Midlands.
Pete Durrell (UKIP), Beverley Nielsen (Lib Dem), Sion Simon (Labour), and Andy Street (Conservative) have all promised to come along. James Burn (Green) is sending a representative.
The new Mayor will have important powers over Transport and Economic Development - including the West Midlands Cycling Charter.
