Party Conference Rides

Each year British political parties have party conferences.   These are major events at which policy is discussed, and key figures such as the party leaders will be in attendance along with local representatives (Members of Parliament).   These events therefore represent a golden opportunity to bring the Space for Cycling campaign to the attention of politicians.

2014 Rides

National cycling charity the CTC organised cycle rides in association with local campaign groups.   The Labour party conference was held in Manchester, so the Greater Manchester Cycling Campaign provided the necessary local expertise.   The Manchester ride was attended by 300 people.

The Conservative party conference was held in Birmingham, so Push Bikes provided the local organisation.   This was well-attended by national and local politicians, as well as a good turn-out of local cyclists.
