CycleBirmingham ride group looking super cool on the canal

Cycle Birmingham is the social side of Pushbikes, with regular rides to coffee shops and pubs across the city.

Want to do more cycling but worried you won't be able to keep up? This is the ride for you - there's no average speed, we go at the pace of the slowest person, and sometimes even slower than that because we've stopped to take a photo or just won't stop gassing. Or someone has ridden into a bollard and fallen off (that only happens occasionally). We don't even discriminate against anyone on a bike who is actually pretty good and can get above 8 miles an hour; we know some people like that and they're ok really.

The rides usually start at Cannon Hill Park, at the picnic tables at the back of the MAC, or outside Moor Street Station and use routes that are along mostly quiet roads, side roads, canals and off road wherever possible. Surfaces are suitable for most bikes, but if you have a super posh road bike with really skinny tyres you might want to check it out beforehand.

Here are the rides coming up:

Wednesday 11th April, 7:15pm
The Wednesday social ride
Meet at Cannon Hill Park, outside the MAC by the picnic tables from 7:15pm for set off at 7:30pm. The ride this week is a shortish route to The Rose Villa Tavern in the Jewellery Quarter in Hockley. The route will be along cycle paths, the canal and some roads.

Friday 13th April, 7am
Coffee social
Fancy a caffeinated kick start to your day? There's no ride, just make your way to Wayland's Yard (Bull Street, city centre) for a coffee, some breakfast and a nice chat. Plenty of bike parking outside.

Wednesday 18th April, 7:15pm
The Wednesday social ride
Meet at the front of Moor Street station from 7:15pm for set off at 7:30pm. A longer ride this week out to The Vaults in Knowle. Dorridge station is about ten minutes ride from the venue if you don't want to pedal all the way home again.

Wednesday 25th April, 7:15pm
The Wednesday social ride
Meet at Cannon Hill Park, outside the MAC by the picnic tables from 7:15pm for set off at 7:30pm. Fingers crossed the weather will be nice for this stretcher ride out to The Waterfall in Old Hill. The route will be a mixture of canals, cycle paths and road.

Friday 27th April, 7am
Coffee social
Another morning social. Drag yourself out of bed at the crack of sparrows, cycle into town and meet at Pret a Manger on Colmore Row (opposite Snow Hill station). Enjoy being awake and alive or just drink a lot of coffee and convince yourself that cake is a valid breakfast decision.
